With nearly 2,000 restaurants, Applebee’s, the neighborhood classic, has an equally large amount of design needs. From extensive menu layout, to in-restaurant pieces promoting new food innovations, to concepting to-go packaging, to overhauling their design system – creative for Applebee’s is constantly in motion. But, throughout all that, my favorite thing I’ve created with the brand is their art direction. As I first joined the team, the 40 year old casual dining group was just beginning what would be a big shift to a new photographic direction. I helped lead the testing for a new photography team and ultimately helped to build the new relationship between the stylistic approach, day-to-day design needs, the creative group, the clients, and the studio team.
